Fiestas
FIESTAS OF SAN JUAN
The fiestas of San Juan Bautista, patron saint of Cox, take place on the night of the summer solstice 24th June. Traditionally a falla is built and planted in an area of the town and on this magical night the falla is burnt, a tradition based on the bonfires of Alicante.
FIESTAS DEL PILAR
Every year on the feast day of the Pilar a pilgrimage and a campaign mass is celebrated in Cox in the Plaza del Pilar. The image of the Virgen del Pilar travels from the church to the square that bears her name, and the whole town accompanies this image in the pilgrimage. Once the image has been installed in the centre of the square, a campaign mass is held.
FIESTAS DE LA VIRGEN DE LAS VIRTUDES
As the ancient patron saint of the town, the Virgen de las Virtudes occupies a special place among the festivities that are celebrated every year in our town. Her feast day is the 8th of September and in her honour there is a mass, a procession and a big night party in the neighbourhood which bears her name. The devotion to Our Lady of Virtues dates back to medieval times and is one of the oldest Marian devotions in the Vega Baja.
